How to add a Skype contact in Skype for Business
If your organization allows it, you can use Lync to communicate with Skype contacts.
To add a Skype contact:
- In the Skype for Business main window, select Add a contact > Add a Contact Not in my Organization
- Select the option for “Skype” as the IM provider.
- In the IM Address box, enter your new contact using one of the following formats:
- · For Skype accounts using a Microsoft owned domain (msn.com, Hotmail.com, outlook.com, & live.com). You may simply enter in the user’s email address (example: BruceWayne@msn.com).
- · Old Skype accounts didn’t use domains in the username, so for old Skype accounts you will use the format username@skypeids.net
- · Newer Skype accounts with non-Microsoft owned domains will use the format username(domain)@msn.com. So if the Skype username is TonyStark@gmail.com you would enter TonyStark(gmail.com)@msn.com.
