How to Block Inbound Calls in Microsoft Teams at the Tenant Global Level

Introduction

If you are using Microsoft Teams for your business communication, you may want to block some unwanted or spam calls from reaching your users. Microsoft Teams allows you to block inbound calls at the tenant global level using PowerShell. This means that you can apply a single policy to all your users and define a list of number patterns and exceptions that you want to block or allow. In this article, we will show you how to block inbound calls in Microsoft Teams at the tenant global level using PowerShell.

Note that it's currently not possible to manage call blocking by using Teams admin center.

Prerequisites

The following are required

  • This will have to be done by someone with the Teams administrator role or a global administrator role in your organization
  • A Microsoft 365 or Office 365 subscription that includes Microsoft Teams
  • A Phone System license for each user who will receive or make PSTN calls
  • A Direct Routing or Calling Plan service to enable PSTN connectivity
  • The Teams Powershell Module will need to be installed before following the steps in the article
