MS Teams – Logging Into Yealink MP and MP E2 Phones

Goal

This guide will walk you through each step of logging a Teams Voice enabled user into a Yealink MP series (MP54, MP56, and MP58) or MP E2 series phone (MP54 E2, MP56 E2, and MP58 E2) to be able to access the features of Teams on a desk phone, and also make and receive calls from the user’s Teams phone number on the device.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have the following:

  • An active O365 User account with Teams Licensing and a Teams Phone Number / DID assigned

  • The credentials for the O365/Teams User Account being logged into the phone (username and password)

  • A Yealink MP or MP E2 Teams Phone

Steps to Log Into MP and MP E2 Phones

1. Connect Phone to Network

Connect the Yealink MP / MP E2 phone to your local network; if the ethernet connection is PoE enabled, this will also power on the phone.

2. Connect Power to the Phone

Connect the Power Supply to the phone; if phone is getting PoE from the ethernet cord, skip this step.

3. Wait for Phone to Boot Up

The phone will go through a series of Yealink bootup screens as the phone powers up and loads the software/firmware; this is normal.

6. Admin Password

The Yealink MP Phone will advise you to set up a local Admin Password unique to that desk phone. The “Old Password” will be “admin”, as this is the default password for Yealink Teams phones. The New Password can be any admin password you wish to set,  but make a note of this password in a secure place as it will not be saved anywhere once set. However, if the admin password you set is lost, you can simply Factory Reset the phone to set a new Admin Password.
