Microsoft Teams - Enrolling Teams phones via AOSP
Description
Beginning in the summer of 2025 Microsoft began migrating the management of Teams Android devices from the legacy “Android Device Administration” to AOSP (Android Open-Source Project).
To allow future firmware and application updates to be pushed to phones via Teams Admin Center, phones will need to be enrolled via AOSP.
More information and FAQs about this change can be found here.

For phones to enroll via AOSP, they must be updated to the minimum requirements listed in the table below.

Directions
If your tenant has a license subscription that includes Intune, you’ll need to create an android device enrollment profile.
- Step 1: Create new enrollment profiles (& configuration/compliance policies if necessary) by signing into the Endpoint Admin Center. Navigate to Devices > Android > Enrollment. Scroll down until you see "Android Open Source Project (AOSP)" and select "Corporate-owned, user-associated devices". From here, if you haven't done so yet, you'll need to select "Create policy" and create an enrollment profile as shown in the picture below.
- Step 2: Once the AOSP Device Management-capable firmware is released in Teams Admin Center, you will need to install the firmware updates for each of the supported Teams Devices. After meeting the minimum firmware requirements and creating an enrollment profile, phones will automatically be enrolled when a user signs in for the first time on the device.
Additional Note
Although no longer required, if you’d like to enroll your phones to Intune for additional control and security benefits, you may do so by following the instructions here
