Creating a SIP Trunk:
1. Click on the middle menu, select "CT Cloud" and then select "SIP"
2. Click on the "+" sign to open the "Add SIP Trunk" screen:
3. Fill in information:
(*Indicates required field)
1. Name: Auto generated field
2. Trunk Description: If you do not add a description, connect will add one for you. It will be a combination of the company name and customer ID. You can use this field if you have multiple SIP trucks and want to make it easy to identify internally. This is field is optional.
3. * SIP Package: Select the SIP Package from the drop down. This is the pricing point for a SIP and included DID. For example select 6 DIDs, 6 DIDs will be charged plus the SIP Trunk. Any thing above the 6, will be charged individually. NOTE: If you select 6 and you only chose 4, you are still being charged for the 6.
4. Product: This deal with how calls are routed out of Metaswitch. Important things to think about:
- Should choose "Default" unless:
- You are in Canada
- Are using the trunk specifically for faxing via T.38.
- Options are Default, Canada or T.38
- An update will only display these options to external users
- The remaining options are internal use only and can only be set by CallTower engineers in specific cases.
5.*PBX Type: The type of equipment. Select from the drop down menu.
6. Concurrent Call Limit: How many outgoing/incoming calls that can happen at once. Select between 1 and 500. NOTE: if this is set too high, there could be a decrease in call quality
7. Line Selection Method: Select from the drop down. How calls are sent from Metaswitch to customer premise equippment. Customer should always choose lowest available unless they have two devices at the same location and they want to balance between them.
8. TLS: Call Traffic between the meta switch and the PBX. If selected you will get a pop up that says "Confirm Enable TLS" Select, enable TLS.
9: International Calling: Select from the drop down. By default, "US and Canada Only" will be select. If you choose waiver, you will need to update the "High Risk Call Limit"
- Allow Default International: Any destination that is less than 10 or 15 cents per minute.
- Allow Deposit International: Anything roughly 45 cents per minute or higher or any destination considered high risk. This has the highest fraud risk.
- Allow Waiver International: Destination that are between roughly 15 cents and 45 cents per minutes. Also not destination that are considered high risk. Medium risk of fraud.
- US and Canada Only: Includes Puerto Rico.
10. ANI Override: Outbound Caller ID
11. Service Suspension: Does not display to customer
12. High Risk Call Limit: You will edit this only if you select "High Risk Call Limit" from the International Calling field. This is the number of calls you can make to high risk destination. This helps with fraud.
13. Block Robo Calls: Per DID charge. Any calls that has been dialed to the SIP truck to be blocked
14. 7 Digit Dialing: Allows calls to be dialed with only 7 digit, instead of 10. If selected, you will need to chose your area code
15: Local Area Code: If 7 digit dialing select, you will need to select the area code here
16. Add Authentication Bindings: Select this box if you are ready to add authentication bindings. Once selected, select the binding from the drop down.
a. Digest: If this option is chosen, you will need to configure the PBX to have user name and password and then the PBX will add that to the new session that is between the PBX and meta switch. Click on the "+" to add more user name and passwords. Click on Save.
b. Static: If this option is chosen, any packets coming from IP that is added in this field, it will be authenticated. Click on the "+" to add more IP addresses.
1. IP Address: add in IP address
2. Port: 5060 is the default. You are able to change this field if needed
3. TCP/UDP: select from the drop down.
17. Save: Click to save your SIP
This is a user portal where a user can modify their VM greeting, delivery, time of day routing, etc. Select the "Change CommPortal Password" button:
1. URL: the URL where you can access the CommPortal
2. User Name: SIP name
3. Change CommPortal Password: Click to change the user password (follow password guidelines)
Adding DIDs to SIP Trunk:
1. To add a DID to a SIP trunk, you must first add the DID(s) to the customer's location. Click the waypoint icon on the left for locations:
2. Select the desired location
3. Click the 3 line icon
4. Select DIDs --> DIDs
5. Click the red 3 line icon and select appropriate option (single DID or DID block)
6. Add corresponding info into fields and click icon in bottom right-hand corner. You can also check the button for "Create Another DID" if you wish to add multiple DIDs.
DID type = CT Cloud
Register with 911 - this will register the DID(s) with Bandwidth for 911
Outbound Carrier - leave set to "Default" unless otherwise notified by CT Cloud Engineering
7. Navigate to customer's trunk(s) by selecting CT Cloud --> SIP from the main menu:
8. Click on the menu for the SIP trunk and then "SIP DID"
9. Click on the "+" sign to add a DID. This will list your available to use DID. NOTE: you are able to do a search for a specific DID by typing in the "Search DID's" box:
10. Click "save" next to the search box
- Click on the arrow to the left of the DID
- Edit DID: This is where you can configure the DNIS - How the number is presented to the customer's PBX.
- The menu in the lower right side, you can do the following:
- You can move the DID to another SIP Trunk
- You can remove the DID from the SIP Trunk
- You can save the DID to the SIP Trunk
NOTE on 911:
911 services with SIP, you will need to have specific locations for each SIP trunk.
